West Chatham Food Pantry
Mission: The West Chatham Food Pantry provides supplemental food to qualifying Chatham County residents.
The West Chatham Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2007. We are an all volunteer pantry whose sole purpose is to help feed the hungry throughout Chatham County. Since opening our doors, qualifying families have been able to receive food from our facility every 14 days, if needed.
The pantry is supporting Chatham County School’s FUEL UP program. This is a weekend backpack program that provides grocery supplements to qualifying elementary school children. Each backpack contains healthy food items such as fruit, meat, vegetables, breakfast items, juice and healthy snacks.
We have been faithfully supported by area churches, businesses, civic organizations, and individuals. It is thanks to their generosity that we are able to provide for the need in our community.
Volunteer opportunities are available. Volunteer duties: Off-loading boxes from delivery trucks; stocking shelves; checking dates on food items; packaging client boxes; interview clients.
